A bargain is struck by Rick's Group with the pseudo-police running Grady Memorial. They will trade the officers for Carol and Beth. The trade-off begins smoothly when Carol is traded for the male officer. Beth is traded for the female officer. But Dawn, the de-facto leader at Grady, demands Noah as a trade for one of her fallen officers.
Beth refuses to allow Noah to remain behind but her ill-planned attack on Dawn results in Beth's own death. Dawn is immediately killed by Daryl in retaliation and Rick offers asylum for any of the Grady Memorial group who want to leave. However, they choose to stay, believing that with Dawn's death, they can return to normal.
Just as Rick's Group exits the building, Maggie and Glenn arrive with the fire truck. The smaller group walks forward confidently, expecting to see Beth and Carol but are overwhelmed with grief when they see Daryl emerge, carrying Beth's limp form. Maggie collapses in horror with Glenn at her side.
She is now the sole survivor of the Greene family and could not possibly process her grief. Abraham would take charge that night. Rosita, Tara and Eugene never met Beth so they would certainly help look after the brokenhearted Group. Their stash of food would be brought out.
But the real treasure would be saved for Maggie. Their stash of liquor would be reserved for her alone. Based on Georgia's official state cocktail, the "Scarlet O'Hara," the Maggie Greene is dedicated to Maggie; the stalwart survivor and new moral center of the Group.
Although devastated by the loss, Maggie inherited her father's strength and would continue to support the Group, even as they carry her in her hour of need. Prepare a Maggie Greene and raise a toast to those left behind and to those that lead the way.
Then fill to all the parting glass and drink a health what 'er befalls,
And then gently rise and softly fall, goodnight and joy be to you all.
And when the dead rise; and Rick tells you to stop running.....STOP!
The Maggie Greene
1/2 cup Peach Infused Vodka
1/2 cup Peach Nectar
2 Tbsp. Lemon Juice (optional)
Club Soda
In a large glass, combine vodka, nectar and lemon juice. Stir well and add ice if you have it. The drink will still be very refreshing without ice due to the carbonation in the club soda. Pour club soda over the mixture, being careful not to disturb the bubbles. Garnish with a slice of fresh peach and serve immediately.
